The Institute for Polar Science and Engineering of Jilin University signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian Institute of Marine Geology and Mineral Resources in 2022, planning to carry out in-depth cooperation in the study of the subglacial environment and dynamics of the Antarctic ice sheet. The main objective is to jointly study the dynamics of the marginal portion of the East Antarctic ice Sheet, its coupling to the subglacial environment, and mass balance estimation in the Larsman Hill (Princess Elizabeth Land) area. At present, the two sides havd carried out a joint drilling expedition of subglacial bedrock in the geomagnetic anomaly area of the Lasman Hills-Dalk Glacier in Antarctica, and started to jointly carry out geological research on ice cores and subglacial bedrock samples.
