The Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences is a national research institution specializing in the study of ecological environment, natural resources and major projects in high-cold and arid areas, and its main research fields (such as glaciers, frozen soil, deserts, ecology, oil and gas geology, resource and environmental information, etc.) are in a leading position in China. At present, the Northwest Research Institute has 2 State key laboratories, 1 National data center, 3 key laboratories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 8 provincial key laboratories/engineering centers in Gansu and Ningxia, 7 national field observation research experimental stations, and 17 field observation research experimental stations at the level of Chinese Academy of Science and Research Institute. The cooperation between Institute for Polar Science and Engineering of Jilin University and Northwest Research Institute are mainly about sampling technology, scientific sample processing and analysis of mountain glacier, frozen soil and cryosphere environment.
