During 38th CHINARE, the Institute for Polar Science and Engineering of Jilin University carried out the Antarctic field test on the engineering prototype of the recoverable subglacial lake thermal melt detector developed by Jilin university in the ice sheet near Zhongshan Station. The accumulated drilling depth exceeded 500m, which fully verified the function of the developed detector, and all the performance indicators reached the expected goals. A number of valuable samples and data were obtained, and valuable experience in field drilling was accumulated, which laid the foundation for China to carry out the scientific drilling project in the Antarctic subglacial lake. The Antarctic field test is also the first international field application of recoverable subglacial lake thermal melt detector in the Polar regions, which marks that China has reached the international first-class level in this field of technology.
