In September 2023, the Institute for Polar Science and Engineering of Jilin University sent members to attend the 15th International Academic Conference on Ice Physical Chemistry held in Sapporo, Japan. Members mainly participated in the research and exchange of physical, chemical, biological, geological and environmental aspects of the polar cryosphere, and fully communicated with international experts through academic reports on the measurement technology and method of electrical properties of ice, the influence of sintering of ice on density, and the reverse circulation of air cored ice drilling technology. Among them, Associate Professor Hong Jialin gave a report entitled "The influence of sintering on the evolution of snow density: Experiments and results"; Prof. Wang Rusheng gave a report titled "Research on Adaptive Ice-breaking Mechanism of a New Method of Air Reverse Circulation Continuous coring Ice Drilling". Professor Zhang Nan gave a report entitled "Preliminary results of dielectric profile measurements of ice cores on the flank of the Dalk Glacier in Antarctica". The reports on the conference had received wide attention and fruitful exchanges have taken place.
