The XIII International Symposium on Antarctic Earth Sciences was held from July 22 to July 26 of 2019 at Incheon, Republic of Korea. In addition to usual themes of ISAES, this year ISAES 2019 expanded its scope to include new areas of research. For example, sessions such as “Antarctic volcanism”, “Remote sensing” and “Climate science” were included this year. ISAES 2019 also supported over 90 students from Korea and abroad by financial sponsorship. During the symposium, more than 450 participants from 32 countries have attended and presented nearly 430 presentations of their research findings and achievements under 24 different sessions. Professor Wang Rusheng and Associate Professor Fan Xiaopeng of the Institute of Polar Science and Engineering of our university attended the International Symposium on Antarctic Earth Science and made academic reports respectively which were ”A New Smart System of Rapid Continuous Coring Drilling with Air Reverse Circulation in Antarctica” and “New step forward in understanding Antarctic subglacial environment”.
